Danny Farquhar thanks doctors, says he 'can't wait' to pitch again after ruptured aneurysm

Danny Farquhar thanked his family, Chicago White Sox fans and medical personnel on Instagram on Thursday night, adding that he "can't wait" to return to pitching after a ruptured brain aneurysm ended his 2018 season.
"Overwhelmed with the love and support that was shown to me and my family these past few weeks," Farquhar wrote alongside the first photos he's released since being hospitalized late last month.
"Thank you to the @whitesox, White Sox Fans and RUSH University Hospital. My wife and I are blessed to have an incredible support system with both our families. I am home and healing and can’t wait to be back on the mound!"
The White Sox announced earlier this week that Farquhar had been discharged from the hospital and was resting at home. His neurosurgeon, Demetrius Lopes, said in a statement released by the team that he expects Farquhar will be able to pitch "some time in the future."
It's been an amazing recovery for the 31-year-old, who was left to fight for his life when an aneurysm in his brain ruptured during a game on April 20. Experts in neurosurgery told Paste BN Sports that an estimated one-third of people who suffer a ruptured brain aneurysm die from that rupture, and only about one-third of those who make it to the hospital ever return to normalcy.

After Farquhar visited Chicago's clubhouse on Tuesday, manager Rick Renteria told reporters that he wouldn't bet against the right-handed pitcher.
''I wouldn't limit Danny to anything," Renteria said. "I think the human body and the mind and the desire to want to do certain things, you can't place a limit on the size of a man's heart. I wouldn't put anything past Danny."
