Yankees donate $500,000 to Hurricane Irma relief
The New York Yankees announced Friday they were donating $500,000 to Hurricane Irma relief efforts.
The team will split the donations with $250,000 going to the Red Cross and $250,000 going to the Salvation Army.
"The destruction that was caused in the wake of Hurricane Irma will have a long-lasting on the lives of many," Yankees general partner Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal said in a statement. "During times like these it is important to offer support in whatever way possible, and our hearts go out to all those affected."
The Yankees donated $100,000 to Harvey victims earlier in September.
Every player on the Yankees roster pledged to donate $9,000 to Harvey victims from Sept. 4 through the rest of the season.
Athletes, teams and sports leagues have raised or donated millions for Harvey and Irma victims.
