NEW YORK − Tuesday marked the 84th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's famous "Luckiest Man'' speech at Yankee Stadium, retiring from baseball as he battled ALS.

As part of the New York Yankees' annual HOPE Week, the team honored current MLB.com baseball researcher and statistical analyst Sarah Langs.

Diagnosed with ALS in 2022, Langs toured Monument Park along with members of the Yankees before the game, and was joined by women from "Her ALS Story," helping to raise awareness and funds for research.

As part of the tour, participants had the opportunity to interact with Yankees artifacts, including Gehrig's game-used cap and bat.

Langs' parents Charles Langs and Liise-anne Pirofski threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Langs' catchphrase, "Baseball is the Best!'' has been featured on T-shirts, and Yankees manager Aaron Boone and ace Gerrit Cole presented her with a shirt signed by the entire team, along with one to be auctioned to support ALS research.

Additionally, the Yankees made a $10,000 donation to Project ALS.
