Real Salt Lake routs Rapids 5-1 in MLS
SANDY, Utah (AP) — Real Salt Lake scored four goals in a 13-minute span on its way to a 5-1 rout over the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer on Friday.
Salt Lake trailed 1-0 early, but responded with its scoring binge to end the first half.
Joao Plata sent a well-placed ball into the upper right corner of the net in the 32nd minute to start the scoring.
Javier Morales added a goal from a corner kick a minute later and Chris Schuler cleaned up a free kick in the 37th. Real then got an own goal by Colorado goalkeeper Joe Nasco in the 45th to make it 4-1.
Carlos Salcedo capitalized on a failed clearance to increase the lead to 5-1 in the 63rd.
