DC United, Houston Dynamo battle to 0-0 draw

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Dynamo had three great chances in the last minute and D.C. United held on for a 0-0 draw Saturday night.

Two of United goalkeeper Bill Hamid's four saves came in the last minute of stoppage time. First, he got a hand on Mauro Manotas' shot from just outside the 6-yard box and then got a foot on a header by Raul Rodriguez off Boniek Garcia's ensuing corner kick. The game ended when David Horst sent the rebound over the frame.

Tyler Deric had three saves for Houston (3-7-5), which has three straight draws under interim head coach Wade Barrett.

It was a good result for D.C. (4-6-5), which was short-handed because of injuries, suspensions and Steve Birnbaum playing for the U.S. national team.

D.C. earned its only win in Houston in 2014 and before that had lost 10 of 11 with a draw.

Houston had a 17-8 shot advantage. In the first half the teams combined for seven shots but none were on target.
