Portland Timbers’ Andy Polo suspended by MLS after allegations of domestic violence

Major League Soccer suspended Portland Timbers midfielder Andy Polo after allegations of domestic violence, the league announced Wednesday.
The league said Polo is prohibited from engaging in all team activities pending the outcome of an investigation.
"MLS will remain in close communication with the Timbers and the MLS Players Association throughout the process," the league said in a statement.
Polo was accused of domestic violence on a Spanish television show "Magaly TV, La Firme" by a former partner Genesis Alarcon.
“He pulled my hair, I fell to the floor, he slapped me and gave me a black eye,” Alarcón said on the show, according to La República, a newspaper based in Lima, Peru.
"Yes, he has also been violent with my children,” she added.
Polo, 27, has spent the last four seasons with Portland, scoring five goals and adding two assists in 62 games. He sat out the entire 2021 season with a quadriceps injury and a torn meniscus.
