Mercedes: 'Unwell' Lewis Hamilton stops testing for the day

MONTMELO, Spain (AP) — Mercedes says Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is "unwell" and has stopped driving for the day at preseason testing near Barcelona.

Mercedes says on its Twitter account "An unplanned stoppage keeping us off track at the moment. Lewis Hamilton is unwell and not able to continue driving today."

Hamilton had completed 11 laps at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit on Thursday, the first day of the second preseason tests.

Mercedes says reserve driver Pascal Wehrlein will take over for the day. Mercedes had allowed Wehrlein to drive for Force India, meaning the German will drive for two different teams on the same day.

Mercedes says "we're just adjusting the car for Pascal Wehrlein to take to the track this afternoon. We've borrowed him back from our friends Force India F1. Thanks guys!"
