F1 Hungarian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen has 7th straight win, Red Bull's 12th overall win
Max Verstappen's hot streak doesn't seem to be losing steam any time soon.
Verstappen won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday with a time of 1:38:08.634 for his seventh straight win, putting him in a four-way tie for second most wins in a row. Sebastian Vettel has the most consecutive with nine.
It is Verstappen's 24th win dating back to the beginning of last season and 44th overall. It is also Red Bull's 12th straight overall win, the longest streak all-time by a constructor.
"I mean of course it's really enjoyable to work with the whole team and to have this kind of success. I think people forget how hard it is to win 12 in a row, even when you have the fastest car," Verstappen said about Red Bull's hot streak. "Hopefully, we can keep this momentum going for a long time."
Lando Norris finished in second place for a consecutive Grand Prix. Red Bull's Sergio Perez came back from ninth place to finish in third and Lewis Hamilton finished in fourth.
"To be [Podium 2] is a fantastic result in a car that probably shouldn't be P2," Norris said.
Norris accidentally broke Verstappen's trophy while on the podium in a viral moment. Verstappen still picked up the trophy, laughing about the incident as Norris struggled to recall what happened.
"Yeah, I'm not sure [what happened]. Max just placed it too close to the edge." Norris joked. "I don't know. It just fell over I guess. Not my problem it's his."
Upgrades made by McClaren continue to pay off with another top 10 finish for Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri (No. 6). Mercedes, Aston Martin and Ferrari each also had two racers place in the top 10.
Verstappen and Red Bull will look to build on their historical streak at the Belgian Grand Prix next Sunday.
