It's almost time for the most famous race in motor sports.

The "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" is less than two weeks away and the IndyCar world turns its attention to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where 33 drivers will compete to win the 107th edition of the Indianapolis 500. Practices begin this week and qualifying for the race takes place during the weekend.

Last year's race came down to the final lap, as Marcus Ericsson fended off Patricio O'Ward to win his first Indy 500 — and become the first Swedish racer since Kenny Bräck in 1999 to emerge victorious. Ericsson will join eight other past winners competing for a spot in this year's race.

Qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 takes place May 20-21. Here's how it works:

Saturday, May 20: Qualifying for positions 1-30, with 13-30 set by the end of Saturday.

Sunday, May 21: Positioning for positions 7-12 takes place, followed by qualifying for positions 31-33. Then, positions 1-6 will be determined.

What time is 2023 Indianapolis 500 qualifying?

Qualifying on Saturday, May 20, will be from 11 a.m.-5:50 p.m. ET. Qualifying on Sunday, May 21, will be from 2-5:45 p.m. ET.

How to watch 2023 Indianapolis 50 qualifying

NBC will air qualifying Saturday, May 20, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. ET, and qualifying Sunday, May 21, from 4-6 p.m. ET. Peacock will air the entirety of qualifying both days.
