Oscar-nominated actor Adam Driver will wave green flag at the 2023 Indy 500

Adam Driver, the Oscar-nominated Hoosier actor, will be the honorary starter waving the green flag for the 2023 Indy 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Tuesday.

Driver, who served as a U.S. Marine, grew up in Mishawaka and attended the University of Indianapolis during the 2004-2005 academic year before attending New York's Juilliard School.

On the big screen, he's especially known for his work in "Marriage Story," "BlacKkKlansman" and as Kylo Ren in "Star Wars." Driver was nominated for a Tony Award in 2019 for his work in the Broadway revival of "Burn This."

Coming up, he'll star in Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” and Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis."

Indy 500 national anthem singer, grand marshal

Indianapolis Motor Speedway previously announced that Jewel will sing the national anthem and Stephanie Beatriz will be this year's grand marshal.
