NASCAR at Texas: Start time, lineup, TV schedule
FORT WORTH — It's NASCAR race night at Texas Motor Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for tonight's NRA 500.
START TIME: After a national anthem by country singer Sara Evans, the command for drivers to fire engines will be given at 7:38 Eastern time (6:38 local). Following a few pace laps, the NRA 500 will go green at 7:46 p.m. ET. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 7:46.
RACE DISTANCE: Though the race is called the NRA 500, it's actually 501 miles. That's 334 laps around the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: Evans is doing the anthem following an hour-long pre-race concert.
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: FOX will broadcast tonight's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The Performance Racing Network (PRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: Not bad. The day is expected to be cloudy and in the mid-70s, which means it'll be in the 60s during most of the race.
LAST TIME: Jimmie Johnson out-dueled Brad Keselowski in a November thriller, extending the showdown in last year's Chase. And one year ago, Greg Biffle went to Victory Lane as Roush Fenway Racing swept the weekend.
STARTING LINEUP: Kyle Busch knocked older brother Kurt off the pole as one of the final cars to go out in Friday's qualifying session. The Busch Brothers will share the front row for only the second time (Las Vegas, 2009).
