NASCAR at Chicagoland: Start time, lineup, TV/radio schedule
JOLIET, Ill. — It's NASCAR race day at Chicagoland Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for today's GEICO 400.
DELAYED: The was red-flagged for rain at 4:45 p.m. Eastern (3:45 local) with just 109 of the scheduled 267 laps had been completed. NASCAR races aren't official until they reach the halfway point
START TIME: Once the rain stops, it could take up to two hours to dry the 1.5-mile track. The cast of Chicago Fire gave the command for drivers to start their engines
RACE DISTANCE: The GEICO 400 is a 400-mile race around the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway. That's 267 laps.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: Danielle Bradbery, who won the fourth season of The Voice, will sing the national anthem.
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: ESPN2 will broadcast the remaining laps of today's race once the track is dry. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: Uh oh. The National Weather Service says there's a 90% chance of rain today in Joliet. That's ugly, but hopefully the presence of lights -- there is no Air Titan track-drying system here -- will help NASCAR get the race completed today.
LAST TIME: Brad Keselowski opened his 2012 championship run by winning the Chase opener at Chicagoland. He became the second consecutive driver to win Chicago and then go on to win the title; Tony Stewart pulled off that feat in 2011.
STARTING LINEUP: The Penske Racing duo of Joey Logano and Keselowski swept the front row for today's race, giving Logano the prime position for his first race as part of the Chase.
