NASCAR at Charlotte: Coca-Cola 600 start time, lineup, TV/radio schedule and more
CONCORD, N.C. — It's NASCAR race day at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for tonight's Coca-Cola 600.
START TIME: Three members of the military will instruct drivers to start their engines at 6:09 p.m. ET Sunday, followed by the green flag at 6:18 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 6:18 p.m.
RACE DISTANCE: The Coca-Cola 600 is NASCAR's longest race — 400 laps around the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway for a total of 600 miles.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: The 82nd Airborne Division All-American Chorus will sing the national anthem tonight to conclude the annual military-themed pre-race show at Charlotte, which will include a 21-gun salute and "Taps."
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: FOX will broadcast tonight's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET. The Performance Racing Network (PRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: The National Weather Service is calling for a perfect evening — mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s to start and dipping into the 70s after the sun goes down.
LAST TIME: Last season, Kevin Harvick won his second Coke 600 in three years when he passed Kasey Kahne on fresh tires with 11 laps to go. More recently, Jamie McMurray beat Carl Edwards on the final restart to win last week's Sprint All-Star race at the same track.
STARTING LINEUP: Jimmie Johnson won his first pole position of the season during Thursday's qualifying session, beating out Brad Keselowski and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kasey Kahne.
