NASCAR at Dover: Start time, lineup, TV/radio schedule and more
DOVER, Del. — It's NASCAR race day at Dover International Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for Sunday's FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks.
START TIME: Country music star Luke Bryan, along with a 17-year-old local boy with Asperger's, will instruct drivers to start their engines at 1:07 p.m. Eastern time today, followed by the green flag at 1:15 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 1:15 p.m.
RACE DISTANCE: The FedEx 400 is pretty simple: 400 laps around the 1-mile concrete Dover track for a total of 400 miles.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: Cassadee Pope, the former lead singer of Hey Monday who went on to win The Voice, will sing the national anthem today after performing a pre-race concert.
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: For the final time this season, FOX will broadcast today's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET. TNT takes over for a six-race stretch beginning next week. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: For this close to summer, the weather is pretty darn nice in Dover. The National Weather Service is calling for a beautiful, mild day: Sunny skies with a high of 75 degrees and a light breeze.
LAST TIME: In September, Jimmie Johnson extended his Dover dominance by becoming the track's all-time leader with eight victories. But in this race last year, Johnson jumped a late restart alongside Juan Pablo Montoya and was penalized. Eventually, Tony Stewart's two-tire pit call put him in front of Montoya and won the day.
STARTING LINEUP: Brad Keselowski picked up his eighth front-row start of the season -- and his second pole -- during Friday's knockout qualifying session.
