NASCAR at Indianapolis: Start time, lineup, TV schedule
INDIANAPOLIS — It's NASCAR race day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for today's Brickyard 400.
START TIME: Mari Hulman George — chairman of Indianapolis Motor Speedway — will give her traditional command for the drivers to start their engines at 1:07 p.m. Eastern Sunday, followed by the green flag at 1:19 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 1:19 p.m.
RACE DISTANCE: The Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 Powered by BigMachineRecords.com is 160 laps around the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a total of 400 miles. The race was known as the Brickyard 400 in years past.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: Country music singer Drake White will sing the national anthem today.
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: ESPN will broadcast today's race and has a pre-race show beginning at noon ET. The IMS Radio Network will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: Scattered thunder storms are expected to develop across central Indiana late Sunday morning into early afternoon, which could affect the start of the race. Weather Channel is predicting temperatures in the low to mid 80s with a 30-percent chance of rain in the afternoon.
LAST TIME: Ryan Newman scored an unexpected victory last season, winning by nearly three seconds over Jimmie Johnson.
STARTING LINEUP: Kevin Harvick won his series-high fourth pole of the season, ahead of Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski. Harvick won from the pole at Indianapolis in 2003.
