NASCAR at Texas: Start time, lineup, TV/radio schedule
FORT WORTH — It's NASCAR race day at Texas Motor Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for Sunday's AAA Texas 500.
START TIME: The Harlem Globetrotters will instruct drivers to start their engines at 3:09 p.m. Eastern time today (2:09 local), followed by the green flag at 3:18 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 3:18 p.m.
RACE DISTANCE: The AAA Texas 500 is 334 laps around the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway for a total of 501 miles.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: The Air National Guard's Band of the Southwest will perform the national anthem prior to today's race.
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: ESPN will broadcast today's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The Performance Racing Network (PRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: The National Weather Service is calling for partly sunny skies with a high near 69. It will be a little breezy -- winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.
LAST TIME: Joey Logano won the April race at Texas Motor Speedway to lock himself into the Chase -- one of five wins so far for him this season. And one year ago, Jimmie Johnson won the November race at Texas on his march toward a sixth championship.
STARTING LINEUP: Matt Kenseth won the pole for today's race, ahead of Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon and Johnson.
