Chevrolet dumps Kurt Busch after suspension
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Car manufacturer Chevrolet announced Friday afternoon that it has suspended its relationship with Sprint Cup driver Kurt Busch.
Busch was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR Friday as a result of findings in the domestic abuse case relating to his ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll.
"Chevrolet has suspended its relationship with Kurt Busch indefinitely," Chevrolet vice president of motor sports and performance vehicles Jim Campbell said in a statement released by the manufacturer. "We will continue to monitor the events surrounding Mr. Busch and are prepared to take additional action if necessary."
Busch has been driving for the Stewart Haas Racing Chevrolet team, co-owned by driver Tony Stewart and Gene Haas.
Busch began his Sprint Cup career in Fords fielded by team owner Jack Roush and later drove for Roger Penske, but has been affiliated with Chevrolet's racing operations for the past four seasons.
