NASCAR at California: Fontana race start time, lineup, TV schedule
FONTANA, Calif. — It's NASCAR race day in Southern California, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for today's Auto Club 400.
START TIME: The top 11 singers from American Idol plus mentor Scott Borchetta will instruct drivers to start their engines at 3:37 p.m. Eastern time today (12:37 local), followed by the green flag at 3:46 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 3:46 p.m.
RACE DISTANCE: The Auto Club 400 has pretty simple math -- it's 200 laps around the 2-mile Auto Club Speedway for a total of 400 miles.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: The aforementioned finalists from American Idol will sing the anthem today. Jeff Gordon appeared on the show Thursday night to invite the top 11 to do the anthem and be grand marshals .
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: FOX will broadcast today's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 3 p.m. ET. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER: The National Weather Service is calling for a beautiful Southern California day, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 77 degrees.
LAST TIME: Kyle Busch held off a hard-charging Kyle Larson to win his second straight race at Auto Club Speedway. But with Busch sidelined with an injury, today's race is guaranteed to have a new winner.
STARTING LINEUP: The all-Stewart-Haas Racing front row was led by Kurt Busch, who won a pole at the home race for sponsor Haas Automation. California native Kevin Harvick will start alongside his SHR teammate.
