Car gets loose out of Turn 4 on green track
Kyle Busch's car got loose coming off Turn 4 and crashed hard right into the wall on lap 52 of a scheduled 200 in Sunday's Quicken Loans 400.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup race had just gone green after three red flags for rain.
Busch won the Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday in his return to that series after breaking his right leg and left foot in the series opener at Daytona.
Busch was uninjured in the Michigan crash and his team ordered him to the garage for repairs.
He missed the first 11 Sprint Cup races while he recovered. He returned in the Coca-Cola 600 – NASCAR's longest event – and finished 11th. He was 36th at Dover and ninth at Pocono.
Busch is trying to qualify for the 16-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup. He must win a race - and be in the top 30 in points - to do so.
Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth and 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick complained on their in-car radios that NASCAR had restarted the race while it was raining in some areas of the track.
