Jeff Gordon predicts 'wild and crazy' Brickyard 400

INDIANAPOLIS – Jeff Gordon predicts his final Indianapolis Motor Speedway start on Sunday will be “wild and crazy” thanks to NASCAR’s new high-drag aero package.
Drivers have said the cars get extremely loose behind other cars, thanks to a nine-inch spoiler that punches a big hole in the air. NASCAR hoped the spoiler would result in slingshot passes down the straightaways, but count Gordon among the drivers who aren’t so sure.
“You fans and us drivers are going to be in for a heck of a ride tomorrow,” Gordon said Saturday during an appearance on the Chevy fan stage. “The restarts – I don’t know how wide exactly Indianapolis Motor Speedway is on the back straightaway, but we’re going to use up every inch of it.”
Gordon is making his last Brickyard appearance after a record five victories in the race. IMS president Doug Boles presented Gordon with his 2014 Brickyard champions’ ring Saturday and noted the Hendrick Motorsports driver was the winningest ever on the IMS oval.
Gordon called last year's race one of his career highlights.
“It’s still to this day one of the highlights to me because not only was it number five here at Indianapolis, but my wife and kids were here to kiss the bricks, which they’d never had a chance to do,” Gordon said.
