All-time Daytona 500 winners by year


The 58th running of the Daytona 500 came down to a photo finish after a thrilling final lap.

Denny Hamlin won the 2016 race in the closest finish in Daytona 500 history, beating Martin Truex Jr. to the line by 0.011 seconds. It was the first win for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Great American Race since Dale Jarrett in 1993.

Richard Petty holds the record for most Daytona 500 victories, while 10 other drivers have won NASCAR's premier event at least twice: Petty (seven), Cale Yarborough (four), Bobby Allison (three), Dale Jarrett (three), Jeff Gordon (three), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (two), Bill Elliott (two), Jimmie Johnson (two), Matt Kenseth (two), Sterling Marlin (two) and Michael Waltrip (two).
