Dollar General leaving Matt Kenseth, JGR after 2016
Dollar General will conclude its sponsorship of Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 20 car and depart from NASCAR at the end of this season, JGR spokesman Chris Helein confirmed to Paste BN Sports.
SportsBusiness Journal was the first to report the news Monday.
The company had been funding Matt Kenseth's car for 30 races per season, which increased in 2014 after The Home Depot decided to pull its NASCAR sponsorship.
Now it's Dollar General that has chosen to "reallocate our future marketing assets into new programs" in what it called a "business decision," according to a statement provided to SBJ.
Helein indicated another sponsorship announcement will take place sometime this summer.
