Coke Zero 400 averaged 5.4 million viewers on NBC

NBC's viewership for Saturday's Coke Zero 400 was comparable to a year ago as the network took over NASCAR's television package the rest of the season.

Viewership averaged 5.4 million — with streaming included — for the telecast from Daytona International Speedway, according to the network. Last year's race averaged nearly 5.7 million viewers.

Viewership peaked at 6.5 million viewers from 11:15-11:30 p.m. ET.

NBC projected it to be the highest-rated sports event of the weekend.

The 5.4 viewership estimate was up 13% from NBC’s 2016 NASCAR Cup Series average, which is 4.8 million across five races.
