NBC Sports Network features throwback drivers, cars for Sunday segment at Darlington

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Retired NASCAR drivers Jeff Burton, Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty and Mark Martin returned to the track – briefly – Saturday at Darlington Raceway.
The quartet drove “retired” race cars during a 15-minute run around the track for a segment that is scheduled to air during NBC Sports Network’s NASCAR America broadcast Sunday before the Bojangles’ Southern 500 (5:30 p.m. ET).

Burton drove A.J. Foyt’s 1980 No. 51 Oldsmobile, and Jarrett drove Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s 1981 No. 2 Pontiac. Petty drove the 1967 No. 43 Plymouth his father Richard once raced, and Martin piloted his own 1990 No. 6 Ford.
This is the third annual throwback weekend at Darlington, which is celebrating the sport’s past. Most of the cars entered this weekend are sporting paint schemes that were used decades ago.
