HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- NASCAR confirmed Saturday that Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. will remain as the sole supplier of racing tires for its three national series.
The announcement of a renewal of the long-standing agreement between NASCAR and Goodyear came much later in the year than normal after extended negotiations between the two and interest from other tire companies.
Goodyear has been the exclusive tire supplier for NASCAR since 1997 after a brief period of competition between Goodyear and Hoosier resulted in much faster speeds and significantly more dangerous conditions at some tracks.
Goodyear has been involved in NASCAR events for more than 60 years.
