A contractor died on Friday while working on the track for NASCAR's Chicago race, according to WGN 9.
Duane Tabinski, 53, was part of the staging and lighting crew. Information from initial police reports suggest he was electrocuted, although no official cause of death was given as officials conduct an autopsy.
“On Friday afternoon a contractor suffered a fatal medical emergency,” a NASCAR spokesperson told the local news outlet. “We are coordinating with local authorities on this tragic incident. We share our condolences to the family and their loved ones.”
