NBA suspends Meyers Leonard, Daniel Orton
The NBA has suspended Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard and Philadelphia 76ers center Daniel Orton for an altercation in Saturday's game that looked like something out of pro wrestling.
With about seven and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter of the game, Orton tipped a pass away from Leonard to create a turnover. When the teams went to the other end, Orton backed into Leonard trying to get position on the blocks and Leonard body slammed Orton, who retaliated by elbowing Leonard in the mouth and the two were quickly separated by the officials.
Portland went on to win the game 139-105.
Leonard will serve his suspension Sunday night when the Trail Blazers visit the Detroit Pistons. Orton will serve his suspension on Monday, when the 76ers visit the Brooklyn Nets.
