Goran Dragic speaks out about turmoil with Suns
A little more than a year has passed since Goran Dragic was traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Miami Heat at the trade deadline, and — before he faced off against his former squad last week — he spoke about the situation that sent him packing.
That situation, of course, was the Suns' decision to bring in Isaiah Thomas and Eric Bledsoe, which was a move that resulted in a decline in Dragic's production, an overcrowded backcourt, and ultimately, a trade.
“I was glad as soon as I got out of there,” Dragic told the Palm Beach Post. “I didn’t feel comfortable with them and you never knew what to expect. I want to be in a good situation with a good organization.”
Well, as the starting point guard for the fourth-place Heat (36-26) while the 14th-place Suns (16-46) continue to limp along in a lottery-bound season, it seems as though Dragic has gotten his wish.
Still, the difference of fortune between the two teams has yet to stop him from playing with a little extra fire when the two teams meet.
"Oh yeah, I’m motivated. Always,” he told the Palm Beach Post. “I wish we didn’t break on bad terms like it was, but you always want to show them they made a mistake how they treated you and that you’re a good player. There will be a lot of emotions in that game, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Dragic put up 25 points, seven rebounds, and four assists on Thursday in what was one of his best games of the season, and the Heat went on to win for the third time in their third meeting with the Suns since the trade occurred.
