Cavaliers come out on fire in first quarter of Game 3
The Cleveland Cavaliers came into Game 3 of the NBA Finals in dire need of a hot start after falling into a 2-0 series hole.
That's exactly what they did.
They quickly jumped out to a 9-0 run capped off by a Richard Jefferson three-pointer. Then they extended the lead to 19-4 with a LeBron James layup. Then 27-10 off an acrobatic J.R. Smith layup, followed by a deep Kyrie Irving three-pointer to bring the lead to 30-10. The Quicken Loans Arena was rocking, and so were the Cavs, ending the quarter with a commanding 33-16 lead.
Irving led all scorers with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting. James added 8 on 4-of-4, and Jefferson scored 5 on 2-of-3. As a team, the Warriors shot just 35% from the field and 1-for-10 from beyond the arc.
