C.J. McCollum, Trail Blazers agree on four-year, $106M contract

C.J. McCollum and the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed on a four-year, $106 million contract extension which will begin at the start of the 2017-18 NBA season, a person familiar with the deal confirmed to Paste BN's Sam Amick.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been announced.

McCollum, the 2015-16 recipient of the NBA's Most Improved Player Award, averaged career-highs of 20.8 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 34.8 minutes last year, his third NBA season, as the Blazers advanced to the Western Conference semifinals just a year after losing four of five starters.

Alongside All-NBA point guard Damian Lillard, McCollum is the second half of one of the NBA's most dynamic backcourts, and — at just 24 years old and with an undoubtedly bright future — it was in the Blazers' best interests to ink a deal that keeps him around for the long haul.

The Vertical was the first to report the contract agreement.
