As Dwight Howard gets set to begin the next — and perhaps the most important — chapter of his career in Atlanta with his hometown Hawks, the 30-year-old center is spending time in the gym working on a facet of his game that has betrayed him throughout his entire career: free throws.

But instead of putting in reps from the free-throw line (15 feet) as one might expect, video surfaced of Howard — a career 56.8% shooter from the charity stripe — taking 19-foot jumpers. If muscle memory runs its course, this should lead to increased confidence at the line, where Howard shot a career-low 48.9% last season with Houston.

In early August, Howard was seen working on his jumper from the elbow, too.

Not to count chickens before they hatch, but with the NBA season less than two months away, could it be that the move to Atlanta is just what the eight-time All-Star needed to rejuvenate his career?

Third time's a charm, right?
