Pelicans' Anthony Davis sprains ankle in Wednesday's preseason game

New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis left Wednesday's preseason game against the Houston Rockets with a right ankle sprain, the team announced.

Davis slipped while driving to the basket in the first quarter and immediately fell to the floor. He returned to the game briefly before exiting for the locker room.

After the game, which took place in Beijing as part of the NBA Global Games, ESPN reported that Davis suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain and is expected to miss 10-15 days.

It's not an encouraging start to the preseason for Davis, the oft-injured three-time All-Star who played in a career-low 61 games last season with knee and shoulder issues.
