DeMar DeRozan, James Harden named NBA players of the week
DeMar DeRozan and James Harden have been named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played from Monday, Dec. 12 through Sunday, Dec. 18.
DeRozan, who led the Toronto Raptors to a 3-1 week, averaged a league-leading 31.5 points on 60.5% shooting to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. On the season, he's averaging a career-high 28.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game and is shooting 48.8% from the field.
Out West, Harden led the Rockets to a 4-0 week, pushing their winning streak to an NBA-best 10 games. He averaged 27.0 points, 12.8 assists and 9.8 rebounds on the week, including back-to-back triple-doubles against the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans.
On the season, Harden — who came it at No. 1 in Paste BN Sports' NBA MVP race and the Rockets came in at No. 4 in our Week 7 power rankings — is averaging 27.7 points, 11.8 assists and 8.0 rebounds.
Other nominees were Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Rudy Gobert, Bradley Beal and John Wall.
