Isaiah Thomas, Russell Westbrook named NBA players of the week

Isaiah Thomas and Russell Westbrook have been named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played from Monday, Dec. 19 through Sunday, Dec. 25.
Thomas, who led the East in scoring with 33.3 points per game, helped the Boston Celtics to a 3-1 record, with all three wins coming on the road. He scored a career-high 44 points during Tuesday's overtime win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
On the season, he's averaging a career-high 27.0 points to go along with 6.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds, looking to be on his way toward a second straight All-Star selection.
Out West, Westbrook led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 3-1 week behind an NBA-best 41 points per game, as well as 10 assists and 9.8 rebounds. He became the third player in NBA history to post three straight games of 40 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Westbrook is averaging a career-high 31.7 points, 10.9 assists and 10.4 rebounds on the season.
Other nominees included Nicolas Batum, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins and Kyle Lowry.
