DeMar DeRozan, Gordon Hayward named NBA players of the week

Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan and Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward have been named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played from Monday, Jan. 9 through Sunday, Jan. 15.

DeRozan, who led the Raptors to a 3-0 week, averaged 30.7 points (on 51.5% shooting) and 7.3 rebounds. His week was highlighted by a 41-point, 13-rebound outing in a 114-106 win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday to help the Raptors maintain the second seed in the East.

On the season, DeRozan is averaging 28.1 points (fifth in NBA), 5.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

Out West, Hayward averaged 23.7 points on 73.5% shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in three games for the Jazz — all wins. He made 10 of his 12 shots en route to 28 points in Tuesday's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Hayward is averaging a career-high 22.1 points and 5.8 rebounds this season.

Other nominees were Isaiah Thomas, DeAndre Jordan, Chris Paul, Hassan Whiteside, Russell Westbrook, Joel Embiid, Devin Booker and Jonas Valanciunas.
