Cavaliers to sign Derrick Williams to 10-day contract

The Cleveland Cavaliers intend to sign forward Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract, a person with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed to Paste BN Sports.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the signing had not yet been announced.
Williams, 25, was released earlier in the week by Miami, where he averaged 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 25 games. Williams was taken with the No. 2 overall pick in 2011 — one pick behind Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving — after a phenomenal sophomore season at Arizona.
He may not be the playmaker that LeBron James desires, but should provide a spark off the bench with backup center Chris Andersen out for the season with a torn ACL.
The Vertical first reported the negotiations.
