The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded veteran big man Chris Andersen and cash considerations to the Charlotte Hornets for a protected second-round draft pick, the Cavs announced Monday.
Andersen, who signed with Cleveland as a free agent over the summer, played in only 12 games (2.3 points, 2.6 rebounds) before suffering a season-ending ACL injury in December.
The move clears up a roster spot for the Cavaliers, who are looking to add a ballhandler to the rotation.
The defending champs, who sit in first place in the East with a 37-16 record, also signed forward Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract last Thursday.
