TNT, ABC see ratings gains for Sunday NBA playoffs telecasts

The opening Sunday of the NBA playoffs resulted in ratings gains for TNT and ABC.
The Chicago Bulls’ 106-102 victory over the Boston Celtics followed by Houston Rockets’ 118-87 dismantling over the Oklahoma City Thunder scored TNT a 39% ratings improvement over the primetime telecasts last year, Turner Sports announced on Monday. The two games average a 3.4 household rating, making it the most-watched cable programming on Sunday night.

Golden State Warriors’ 121-109 win over the Portland Trailblazers broadcast Sunday afternoon on ABC resulted in a 4.4 rating, ESPN announced. That was a 10% improvement over the same time slot last year.
The first game of the day, Atlanta Hawks-Washington Wizards on TNT, garnered a 1.8 overnight rating. There was no comparable time slot a year ago.
