NBA 2K18 releases video showing in-depth player, jersey details

The makers behind NBA 2K18, which is set to release next month, shared a video on Tuesday to show fans the detail that has gone into the latest installment of the best-selling video game franchise.

The video gives an in-depth look at the accuracy of the players' faces and physique in this year's game, as well as the new-and-improved design of this season's Nike jerseys.

"The thing we're most excited about is the improved player accuracy," NBA 2K18 art director Joel Friesch said. "We spent a ton of time this year making every player look and feel like their real life counterpart, down to the smallest details.

"We completely redesigned the entire body system to allow us to accurately match the physique of every player in the league. We started by rebuilding all the players' faces from scratch to give more detail."

Friesch noted that the game designers changed the way eyes and teeth respond to light and focused on the "unique details" like scars, stretch marks and faded tattoos.

As for the jerseys, Friesch said 2K sent artists to the NBA office in New York to "scan and color sample every team's uniform to guarantee their accuracy."
