Pelicans' Solomon Hill undergoes hamstring surgery, could miss most of season

The New Orleans Pelicans announced Sunday that forward Solomon Hill is expected to be out 6-8 months after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn left hamstring.

The injury, which Hill suffered during a recent workout in Los Angeles, is another significant blow to a franchise that has been riddled with injuries in recent years.

Hill, 26, averaged seven points and 3.8 rebounds in 80 games (71 starts) last season, his first with the Pelicans after signing a four-year, $48 million deal. He was drafted with the 23rd overall pick by the Indiana Pacers in 2013 after spending four seasons at Arizona. 

Though he struggles with consistency at times, Hill's 3-and-D value will be missed by the Pelicans, who have little depth at the small forward spot.
