Look: Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat unveil new jersey patches
Add the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat to the list of teams that will sport a sponsorship patch on the upper left corner of their jersey this season, as both teams announced Thursday that they have signed partnership deals with local companies.
The Lakers are partnering with Wish, a California-based e-commerce company, on a three-year deal worth $12-14 million annually, according to Sports Business Journal.
The Heat's partnership, which was announced during a presentation at American Airlines Arena, is with Ultimate Software, a Florida-based technology company.
The 2017-18 season is the first time the NBA will allow teams to wear jersey sponsorship patches. Sixteen of the league's teams have announced deals thus far, including the Golden State Warriors, whose partnership with Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten is worth $20 million a year.
