Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford will be away from the team “for the immediate future to his address his health,” the team announced in a news release on Wednesday.

Hornets associate head coach Stephen Silas will lead the team in Clifford’s absence, and the team said there is no timetable for his return. Clifford missed Monday’s game against the Orlando Magic.

Four years ago, Clifford underwent a procedure to have two stents placed in his heart after he checked himself into a hospital with chest pains. He was away from the team just a few days in November, 2013.

The Hornets are 9-13 and play the Golden State Warriors Wednesday and Chicago Bulls on Friday. Both games are in Charlotte.
