Jeremy Lin offers support for J.J. Redick following alleged slur

Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Jeremy Lin is publicly expressing his support for fellow NBA player J.J. Redick, in the wake of Redick's apology for what sounded like a racial slur in a video message to Chinese fans.
Lin, a Chinese-American who was born in California, addressed the issue Monday on Twitter. In his post, Lin said he spoke with the Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard by phone and believes his explanation of being "tongue tied" when he recorded his new year's greeting.
"Being Chinese is so important to me and I will do everything I can to work with the NBA to help continue (to) teach fans about the depth and beauty of Chinese culture and the importance of China to basketball culture," Lin wrote.
He also encouraged fans not to use hateful language toward Redick and the NBA.
The video, which was produced by a Chinese media company, shows numerous NBA players but Redick seems to slip up when his part is featured.
