CLEVELAND — Brad Stevens’ nephew, who lives near Cleveland, had an easy chance to collect extra credit points in school on Friday.

All he had to do was wear Cleveland Cavaliers gear. He bypassed that for family loyalty.

“My 7½-year-old nephew was offered 10 extra-credit points if he wore anything regarding Cleveland (Friday), and he went all green,” the Boston Celtics coach said before Game 3 on Saturday. “And three years ago, I think he was all Cleveland stuff. So, we're making strides with him.”

Tracy Stevens, Stevens’ wife, attended high school in northeast Ohio, and still has family in the area. Brad Stevens' parents grew up nearby, too.

Slowly, Tracy’s family is switching allegiances from Cavaliers fans to Celtics fans. Stevens acknowledged there’s still some holdovers rooting for the Cavs.

“Maybe they'll get some of those yellow shirts (placed on each seat at Quicken Loans Arena) and pass them around to some people who haven't completely converted to rooting for the Celtics yet,” he said.
