'I was surprised, too': Chris Paul discusses trade to Wizards on 'Good Morning America'
Chris Paul apparently found out about his upcoming move 30,000 feet in the sky.
Appearing on "Good Morning America" on Monday, host Michael Strahan said he was surprised that morning to see the news of Paul being traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards for Bradley Beal.
"I was surprised, too," Paul, 38, said. "I found out on the plane yesterday flying here for this."
The trade would send Paul, draft picks and Landry Shamet to D.C. for Beal. There is a possibility Washington moves the 12-time All-Star point guard in another trade this offseason.
"You know, in this league, anything can happen, so you just figure out what's next," Paul said.
Co-host George Stephanopoulos had to follow up on the plane point, however.
"You literally found out on the plane?" he said.
"Absolutely," said Paul.
Paul was in studio discussing his new memoir, "Papa Chilly," which goes into the life lessons he learned from his late grandfather.
Paul had spent the past three seasons in Phoenix, helping them win the Western Conference in 2020-21.
