The unveiling of basketball legend Dwyane Wade's statue in Miami over the weekend was applauded by those in attendance and the NBA, but people online were not so kind after finding it hard to see a clear resemblance.

Wade, a three-time NBA champion and 13-time NBA All-Star, was honored by the Miami Heat during a ceremony on Sunday after playing for the team for 14 seasons.

"This is nothing I ever thought I'd experience," Wade told the crowd during the ceremony held outside the Kaseya Center. "I didn't play for this. I didn't pick up the basketball for this. I picked up a basketball to change my family's life."

Flanked by his wife, actor Gabrielle Union, Wade said after the unveiling that "it's going to take a while to process this. But I just feel happy. I feel thankful, I feel grateful, I feel blessed and I'm so appreciative."

The NBA chimed in on Wade's accomplishment in an X post saying, "That is your house indeed; forever."

'Miami Heat did Dwyane Wade dirty'

While the NBA and Wade praised the statue and honor, many on social media did not and mocked the sculpture's appearance, even likening it to the 42-year-old's former teammate Antoine Walker and the actors Laurence Fishburne, Delroy Lindo and Kelsey Grammer.
