NBA mock drafts: Where will Marquette's Kam Jones, Wisconsin's John Tonje go?

From a pure scoring perspective, Marquette's Kam Jones and Wisconsin's John Tonje both put up first-round NBA draft numbers in their final college seasons. Tonje averaged 19.6 points a game and Jones averaged 19.2.

But it's likely that both will hear their names called in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft on June 26, based on mock-draft projections.

One mock draft has Jones going with the 30th and last pick of the first round (which will be June 25), but his projections range all the way to No. 49. By the way, the New York Knicks select 50th for those Marquette fans who hope for Jones and Tyler Kolek to become teammates again.

Tonje is projected to go as high as No. 37, with No. 44 on the low end. Yahoo's Kevin O'Connor suggests that both players have to overcome limited athleticism despite solid all-around offensive arsenals.

Here's more on predictions about Jones and Tonje:

Kam Jones mock draft projections

The Ringer (J. Kyle Mann): No. 30 to Los Angeles Clippers

"The buzz around Jones subsided a bit during his senior year as his percentages from 3 dipped. But 10 seconds of research would reveal that his burden was significantly higher than in previous years, when he was wheeling and dealing next to (now New York Knick) Tyler Kolek. Without the All-American by his side last season, Jones was depended on to water the plants of Marquette’s offense while still scoring himself, and that proved to be a tougher task than working alongside another big-time creator. It’s highly unlikely that Jones will have to overextend himself like that ever again; he should instead be called on to hit open shots and keep the ball moving on offense. I expect his experience to shrink the gap between where he is and what the Clippers might ask of him in the near future."

Bleacher Report (Jonathan Wasserman): No. 34 to Charlotte Hornets

"Kam Jones measured just 6-foot-3 barefoot and had to leave the first NBA combine scrimmage with an injury. It wasn't an ideal appearance for the 23-year-old, but there is enough tape of his shotmaking, finishing and improved playmaking for teams to start thinking about Jones early in the second round."

The Athletic (Sam Vecenie): No. 35 to Philadelphia 76ers

Yahoo! Sports (Kevin O'Connor): No. 43 to Utah Jazz

"Jones offers crafty combo guard skills with advanced shot creation and a blossoming playmaking feel. But his so-so athleticism and streaky shooting paint him as just a cog rather than the rare star upperclassman set to enter the league."

On3 Sports (James Fletcher III): No. 45 to Chicago Bulls

ESPN (Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo): No. 46 to Orlando Magic

Sports Illustrated: No. 49 to Cleveland Cavaliers

John Tonje mock draft projections

On3 Sports (James Fletcher III): No. 37 to Detroit Pistons

Yahoo! Sports (Kevin O'Connor): No. 39 to Toronto Raptors

"Tonje will enter the NBA at age 24 with some readymade skills as an off-ball movement scorer and shooter. But his athletic ceiling and defense will determine if he’s more than just a backup."

ESPN (Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo): No. 39 to Toronto Raptors

Sports Illustrated: No. 41 to Golden State Warriors

The Athletic (Sam Vecenie): No. 44 to Oklahoma City Thunder

Bleacher Report (Jonathan Wasserman): No. 58 to Cleveland Cavaliers

"After four years at Colorado State and one with Missouri, John Tonje put himself in the draft discussion by averaging 19.6 points for Wisconsin. He made 85 threes and 231 free throws (90.9 percent FT), as Tonje's shotmaking and physical driving ability have become worth looking into for teams late in the second round."
