James Harden in Colorado for 76ers' training camp as trade efforts stall

Two days after refusing to show up to his team's media day, Philadelphia 76ers star guard James Harden is participating in practice with the team in Colorado, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

On Monday, Harden was notably absent from the 76ers' media day activities amid a growing conflict between the guard and the team's front office. At the time, team president Daryl Morey said he expected the former MVP to be present at the team's training camp, which started on Tuesday at Colorado State's Moby Arena in Fort Collins.

Since exercising his player option in June, Harden has been trying to force his way out of Philadelphia via trade. His absence from media day seemed to be a part of that effort, and it was unclear how long he would hold out.

Wednesday's report that Harden was with the team in Colorado does not necessarily put to rest any thoughts of an extended holdout or continuation of a push to force a trade.

NBA TV reporter Jared Greenberg said a high-ranking official told him the team expected Harden to show up to training camp just to make the situation "'painful' for the organization."

James Harden trade

Harden has been pushing the 76ers to trade him after picking up his $35.6 million contract option in June.

The guard had initially exercised the option with the hope that his team would grant him his trade request. By mid-August, the 76ers announced that efforts to trade Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers — his reported preferred destination — had stalled after engaging in several conversations with the team.

Days after Philadelphia's report on its trade efforts, the discontented guard lashed out at Morey during a media event for Adidas in China.

"Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of," Harden said. "Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of."

He was fined $10,000 for the outburst.

According to Wojnarowski, there is no present indication that a trade will happen with the Clippers or any team.

Harden will be fined for missing the team's media day on Monday.
