Bucks' Mike Budenholzer confirms one of his brothers died in car accident during first round
A brother of Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer died in a car accident during the Bucks’ first-round Eastern Conference playoff series against the Miami Heat.
“Coach Bud is going through a lot on a personal level. He just lost a brother,” Los Angeles Lakers coach Darvin Ham, a former Bucks assistant, told reporters on Friday. “My apologies Bud if I wasn’t supposed to let anybody know. He and I’ve been texting. I love those guys.”
It has not been disclosed which of Budenholzer’s brothers died. The accident happened before Game 4, and Budenholzer kept the news private. A Bucks spokesperson confirmed the death following Ham’s comments prior to Game 6 of the Lakers-Memphis Grizzlies series.
Budenholzer, 53, is the youngest of Vince and Libby Budenholzer’s seven children.
The Bucks were eliminated in five games, ending their season much earlier than expected.
