LeBron James becomes youngest to reach 25,000 career points

LeBron James became the youngest player in NBA history to score 25,000 career points. He needed 21 for the mark going into Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers and scored 22 in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 107-100 win.

"It just means I've played with a lot of great teammates, a lot of great coaches," James said. "I've been around some great groups and I've been able to reap the benefits. It's a cool thing. I've got more work to do, but it's pretty cool to see where you're able to kind of stop and look at it."

James reached the mark on a dunk off an alley-oop feed from Matthew Dellavedova with 8:07 left in the fourth quarter. The 30-year-old James became the 20th player overall with 25,000 points and the sixth active. He joined the Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan, Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Garnett, Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles Clippers' Paul Pierce.

Always a huge draw on the road, James even got a standing ovation from the Philadelphia fans at the Wells Fargo Center.

"They are Sixer fans to death. But they know and they respect the game of basketball," James said. "To get a standing ovation for reaching that milestone, it was very special."

James finished the game with 25,001 points. He reached the mark at 30 years, 307 days. Bryant had previously been the youngest to reach 25,000 at 31 years, 351 days. James also became just the fourth player in league history with at least 25,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists, joining Bryant and Hall of Famers Oscar Robertson and John Havlicek.

"I've been able to stay healthy," he said. "I've been able to play for two great organizations."
